We made it through another one!
This is a little thank you to our music provider R.F. Fineman who did a great job under very rushed and disorganized circumstances.

It's also for those who, like me, are sentimental about the marathon and maybe break down a bit at our now traditional closing music.

I'm often close to tears when I hear it because it means I'll be saying goodbye to some long time friends that I see once a year (plus the fact I've been awake more than 24hrs.) Hey I had a tear in my eye at the end of Flash Gordon.

See you all next year and talk to you right here.

Remember 40 for 40
And no I don't hope we actually do it.

Watch this on the BIGGEST screen you can.

A movie fan watching this knows that even though they've seen so much, there is so much more to be seen.

With any major new film release there just has to be a documentary:

"How The U.S. Air Force would deal with Godzilla"

This has gotten some good reviews as a comedy.
Doesn't do much for me, I think because it's too perfect a re-creation.
This looks like any one of dozens of Roger Corman or Italian made films of the era.

Any opinion from the other old timers?

Those who did not learn from the 70's are destined to repeat them. It looks like "Space Station '76" uses the voice of Siri for the computer plus music by "Spanky and Our Gang" Shocked

...

The film stars Liv Tyler. I wonder if Liv knows any musicians that were big in the 70's and rocked out more than "Spanky and Our Gang". Wink

It could work. Emphasis on could.

Still a little too "wink wink isn't this all a joke" for my taste. Something like MOON or CQ did this better. A solid 70s style SF film done with today's production values without the nudge nudge ain't this a cool throwback vibe. But, maybe that's just how they are selling the movie via the trailer (the reviews seem to indicate it's a more serious effort). It's also too bad that they quite obviously used CGI rather than authentic model work (like Marathon entry ALIEN TRESPASS did even though they try and pass it off as a 'found footage' movie from the 50s).

I worked with Director Jack Plotnick on House. He had a good part in the 'Broken' episodes where House was put in a psych ward. Wish him well.

For those of you not following us on Facebook, WatchMojo has been doing a countdown of their top ten science fiction films by decade starting from the 1950's of course.

They did a Top Ten of all time that's pretty well done with a good variety of titles.
