What no "Apple"? Unless "Flaming Creatures" is an alternate title. (a reference to the actor who played the Devil).

Twelve is pretty good given it's an NPR list and not a list of Science Fiction/Horror films. Good job adding "Lady Terminator" last year! To tell the truth you've pretty much got the list covered, as nothing else that I'm familiar with would really fit. "Army of Darkness" played well, but "Evil Dead" really isn't a fit. Some pretty good zombie films have played over the years, but the "cult classics" listed here are more horror-gore than sci-fi.

Every year the Library of Congress' National Film Registry puts out a list of 25 films that will be guaranteed preservation.

This year, WAR OF THE WORLDS has been added to the list. No, not the Spielberg-Cruise mediocrity, but the George Pal 1953 original

It's a hodgepodge list of shorts, obscurities and FORREST GUMP? Sure GUMP was a Best Picture winner and pretty entertaining film - but, is this big budget big studio pic in any real danger of not being "saved" by the studio?

SILENCE OF THE LAMBS is also on the list along with Film Noir fave THE BIG HEAT and the first computer animated bit from 1972. Which you can see here:

Sorry but seeing Gump on the same list as War of the Worlds, Silence of the Lambs and The Big Heat sickens me. As far as Gump is concerned, I think that it is a silly, schmaltzy movie at best.

Quote whores, that is. Movie critics in name only. The studios love these folks, because even the biggest turkeys can always rely on one of these whores to provide them with a positive quote to use in their adds. No Boston based critics that I know of.

I love the number one whore (Shawn Edwards). In May he proclaims BRIDESMAIDS "the funniest movie ever!". 6 weeks later, HORRIBLE BOSSES is "the funniest comedy of the year!" Poor BRIDESMAIDS, it's "funniest" title only lasted for such a short time.............. Cheesy

I don't understand how folks will spend hours, if not days, going over consumer reports before buying a toaster, but don't spend the time to scout out Film Reviewers. Over the course of a single year - not to mention, many years - most of us spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on movie tickets. With sites like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, it is easier than ever to see over time those critics who's taste most closely mirrors your own.

Quote Whores feed the studios these dummy quotes, because so many filmgoers are dummies themselves who don't distinguish between a Ben Lyons or a Shawn Edwards and someone consistently brilliant in his reviews like that guy from L.A.! Lips Sealed
