BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC
(2020) 91mins Dir. Dean Parisot. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter return years later to...well...face the..... Now, middle-aged Bill & Ted are still chasing the rock 'n roll dream. The cast includes Samara Weaving, Anthony Carrigan, Kid Cudi and William Sadler, plus cameos including Weird Al, Dave Grohl and George Carlin (archive footage).  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1086064/reference/

GODZILLA (1954) Original Japanese cut! Dir. Inoshiro Honda 96 minutes. Folks who have only seen the Raymond Burr version may be surprised at how sober and serious this uncut, subtitled edition is. Honda was an assistant to the great Akira Kurosawa and he brings along actor Takashi Shimura as Dr. Yamane who tries to figure out how and why an ancient radioactive beast is wreaking havoc in post-war Japan. Akira Ifukube's landmark score has been used and re-interpretated throughout the history of the title beast's movie for decades since. GODZILLA has previously shown at SF/8 & SF/30 - both, in this original version. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047034/reference/

FUTURE KILL (1985) in 35mm! 89mins. Dir. Ronald W. Moore. The poster was designed by H.R. Giger; that, and the re-uniting of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre stars Edwin Neal and Marilyn Burns were the biggest selling points of this Texas shot Road Warrior meets Animal House thriller. The cast also includes soon to be Leatherface Bill Johnson (TCM2) and future Oscar nominee John Hawkes in his debut. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089181/reference/

La Jetee (1962) 28 mins Dir. Chris Marker. Recently named to the Sight & Sound list of the greatest films ever made. Brilliant time-travel, mind expanding film made up almost entirely of still images.
Even at 28 minutes, Marker creates a stunning film which has been influential ever since (including Terry Gilliam's adaptation 12 MONKEYS). https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056119/reference/

UFOria (1985) in 35mm! Dir. John Binder. 93mins. Offbeat UFO comic mystery with a cast including Cindy Williams, Fred Ward and Harry Dean Stanton. The film sat on the shelf for a couple of years and barely got released despite rave reviews. Early Marathon leader, JD Pollack, was involved in trying to get the film seen. It's not on home video save for a long OOP VHS tape. Presented at the Marathon on Film! Also note, even the VHS had re-corded songs. This 35mm print is the ONLY way to see the original cut! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081674/reference/

BEYOND THE TIME BARRIER
(1960) 74mins Dir. Edgar Ulmer. Screenwriter Arthur C. Pierce's other scripts included THE COSMIC MAN, NAVY VS. THE NIGHT MONSTERS DESTINATION INNER SPACE and CYBORG 2087 (a clear influence on The Terminator movies). Future Oscar winning Director Sidney Lumet worked in the Casting of the film which included Ulmer's daughter Arianne, Darlene Tompkins and veteran character actor Vladmir Sokoloff as the Supreme Leader. Ulmer's wife Shirley was the Script Supervisor. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053651/reference/

ALIEN (1979) 117 minutes. In 35mm! Original theatrical cut.  Dir. Ridley Scott.  The classic 'haunted house' film in space took some cues from IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE and PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES but brought it up several notches. The fine cast includes Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerrit, Harry Dean Stanton, Ian Holm and Yaphet Kotto. Excellent visuals topped off by the H.R. Giger designed title beast. Superb score by Jerry Goldsmith. ALIEN previously played at SF/7 and SF/29. Winner of the Visual Effects Oscar and nominated for Art Direction. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078748/reference/

TOTAL RECALL (1990). 113 mins. Dir. Paul Verhoeven. Previous Marathon showing at SF/16. Based on a Philip K. Dick story, Arnuld stars as an 'ordinary' man thrust into a Martian action nightmare when he has false memories implanted and meet up with spies, agents and three-breasted ladies. Also featuring Sharon Stone, Rachel Ticoten, Michael Ironside and Ronny Cox. Score by Jerry Goldsmith. Oscar winner for Visual Effects and nominated for two Sound awards. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100802/reference/

Plus! Leading off as is the tradition:

Duck Dodgers In The 24th 1/2 Century - 7 minutes. THE Marathon classic! The tradition continues! Dir. Chuck Jones https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0045709/reference/

Eosphere (2022) Short film that was added to preshow because it was bumped from the festival . https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26756656/reference/

Note: Things to Come has been dropped from the lineup

Dropped because of a faulty DVD disc: HAPPY ACCIDENTS (2000) 110 min. Dir. Brad Anderson. Quirky time travel romantic fantasy stars Marisa Tomei and Vincent D'Onofrio. Director Tamara Jenkins plays Robin and there are other cameo bits including Anthony Michael Hall. Lounge Lizard Evan Lurie (brother of John) provides the score. It was a hit at SF/27. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0208196/reference/
