I found it intriguing. I hear it's pretty faithful to the book.

But, does the FILM make sense?

yes and no
actually no. if you have 2 complete reproductive systems and you have a baby with your egg and your sperm the baby is not your identical twin. it is a fraternal twin with a high likelyhood of having multiple birth defects. you could create the same baby everytime you go through the time loop but that baby has to grow up to be her own mom so the mom cannot be identical to the grown up baby.|
the face transplant and psychosis stuff does work out correctly

I haven't read the book, but apparently it's better explained there.

I just felt they spent way too much time in the bar and then rushed all of the rest that it just didn't make much sense as a MOVIE.

i have a working theory that would explain some aspects of predestination. the "astronaut training" was a pretense to find a person who could operate the time device. the requirement was that the person must be compelled to use the time device. ethan hawke's character was compelled to use the time machine as he did because his existence depended on it. that weird government agent who oversaw the allocation of the time device had the unhappy task of finding a person whom he knew would be doomed to the endless cycle of the time loop that was generated. for what purpose is evading me at this time but i will rewatch at some point after i read the heinleim story that was the basis for the movie.

I've read the short story now.

It finally makes sense.

I still think the movie version we saw at the Marathon this year mucks things up and makes it too convoluted to fully work as a film. Instead of adding all the stuff about chasing the bomber etc. they should have focused on explaining Heinlein's hypothosis and timeline
