R.I.P. Geoff Murphy. One of the most important early figures in modern New Zealand cinema, particularly with UTU and then THE QUIET EARTH. The latter remains one of the great cult Sci-Fi films of all time. It's been a fave at the marathon (SF/11, SF/36).
