Buried in the SF/41 Ticket sale announcement is that the working theme will be "AI".

Thread split to discuss theme - admin

which makes it a gild edged priority that steven spiel berg's "A.I." be featured.

I'd guess it woube be on the short list. Hated the movie - it's very much the unholy hate child of Spielberg and Kubrick, two of the most dissimilar filmmakers you could imagine.

AI is pretty awful.  However, I suspect it is a likely candidate.   Spielberg is the last guy I would recommend to direct a film featuring a child as the main character.

I bring you peace. It may be the peace of plenty and content or the peace of unburied death.

AI just seems to go on forever before ending, not a good choice for the marathon.
The Nostalgia Critic did an interesting look back at AI, kind of surprising that the part you'd swear was Speilberg's addition was actually Kubrick's.

Better choices might be Ex-Machina or even Chappie.

I can't complain but sometimes I still do. Life's been good to me so far.

Theme has been split off from Ticket Sale announcement thread.

I assume EX MACHINA will a top choice if there is an A.I. theme. Of course, the granddaddy - 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY - was just shown. Bad timing there. Although 70MM.........  Wink

The marathon was a little ahead of the times at SF40, we had 2001 in 70mm and now BFI and Alamo Drafthouse are touting a 70mm re-release. We had Iron Giant and that is coming back to theaters for a one night event on October 30th.
Hmmm, Alamo is also advertising a 70mm showing of Aliens on August 1.
