It's not a major anniversary, but, it is the 45th Annual Marathon.

Any suggestions? Particuarly of Films that are 'due' for return the 'thon? This year, we saw a long overdue repeat of ANDROMEDA STRAIN (42 years!)

Two I’ld like to see as repeats that haven’t played in a loooong time: Day of the Triffids and Journey to the Center of the Earth. There are are more, but this will do for starters.

Well, there are a couple of films released in 76 that have never been shown. A*P*E, the infamous "remake" of Things To Come and the interesting God Told Me To.
Also from the same period, Ralph Bakshi's,Wizards, Damnation Alley and of course The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Wonder if it'd be possible to produce a replica T-shirt from the Welles marathons or even some using the ads & such from them.

I can't complain but sometimes I still do. Life's been good to me so far.

Was also thinking Plan 9 and Robot Monster would make great repeats, they’re so bad they’re fun.

As much as  I like this year's 'thon, there may have been a little lack of pure 'fun' in the lineup. Outside of INNERSPACE, maybe.

BUT, seeing how quiet the 'thon audience is for the most part, I'm not sure if you could re-create the great audience response to a ROBOT MONSTER from back in the day. REPTILICUS may have been the last one in the so bad that's it's good vein that actually worked with the crowd. And, that was about 7 years ago.

Was noticing that myself. I only recall 1 "door" and no "MARK" comments.
Heck even the credit clap seemed very subdued.
The movies were mostly good this year so yeah maybe add a really schlocky film or two.

I noticed how quiet the audience has become in the last few years. We don’t really have an alien mating call contest and there were only a couple of people in the tin foil hat contest. I don’t know if this is just a phase or a permanent change in the audience.

Or....maybe the crowd was shocked that we actually held a
SCIENCE FICTION FILM Marathon
for the first time in eons!

Cheesy

No argument from me, I was one of the ones that was shocked. A detail question, is it okay to post about my occasional mini marathons on this board?

Yeah, maybe the contests have outlived their purpose.
Perhaps just do some giveaways during the 'thon with some really random prize packs of merchandise.

Also I really do miss the goodie bags.

Certainly schlocky enough and some nice over the top acting too as I recall.

With two Captain Marvels on the big screen, maybe next year's Science Fiction Movie Marathon can feature a couple chapters of  the 1941 movie serial The Adventures of Captain Marvel.

I wouldn't mind seeing some serial chapters again. Not sure about Captain Marvel though. It's really too well made.
