From 16 - 25 September 2016, at the Somerville Theatre, Somerville, MA

Well, it's taken over a decade, but we're going to run what I hope will be the first of an annual festival next month.  Heres the line up:

16 September - LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (70mm print)

17 September - LORD JIM and IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD (70mm prints)

18 September - TRON and SLEEPING BEAUTY (70mm prints; the latter is the scarcest title we'll be showing)

19 September - RIDE LONESOME (35mm) and THE WILD BUNCH (70mm)

20 September - INTERSTELLAR (70mm)

21 September - SILVERADO (70mm)

22 September - WEST SIDE STORY (70mm)

23 September - 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY and STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME (70mm prints)

24 September - THE VIKINGS (35mm, probably a Tech print) and SPARTACUS (70mm)

25 September - THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (35mm IB Tech print) and BEN-HUR (35mm IB Tech print, with some reels in mag)

This will be a rather busy week for me.  For those of you interested in seeing these projected correctly, heres your chance!!!

Looks like a great great series. Sadly, bad timing for me. But, any New Englander who doesn't go at least once is missing out!

Would come if I didn't live 640 miles from Boston.
Hope it goes well.

Thought that IMAX was the last major refuge of 70mm other than the Coolidge and a few theaters that had reverted. Now I understand that they have been doing away with 70mm projection, most recently to an electronic laser projection system with (Gasp!) loss of projection resolution, but a return to the original 70 mm IMAX projection ratio.

Again. Best wishes.

edit: Here's a clip I found of the changing of an IMAX 70mm  xenon projection bulb. Perhaps David does have it easy? ::http://www.popsci.com/watch-elaborate-process-changing-imax-lightbulb

Thars only two possibilities:Thar is life out there in the universe which is smarter than we are,or we're the most intelligent life in the universe.Either way, it's a mighty sobering thought-WaltKelly

From where I sit, pretty good for the well-known stuff - 2001 sold out, and there were some pretty darn good crowds for Spartacus, Star Trek IV, West Side Story, Sleeping Beauty.  Not quite huge for some others, but good enough that they are making plans for next year.

(Ain't even gonna say the name of the obvious 40th Anniversary thing I'm hoping for because it's probably impossible on multiple levels)

Why? Won't Columbia/Sony allow the best Sci-Fi film of 1977 to show for it's 40th?
