JEAN STAPLETON, forever known as 'Dingbat' Edith Bunker has passed on at 90. A terrific actress as well as comedienne. What separated ALL IN THE FAMILY from the usual run of sitcoms wasn't just the biting social satire, but the fact that the show could often work as a straight drama, much of it hanging on Stapleton's talents.

Stapleton did a lot of theater after ALL IN THE FAMILY, but did have parts in films such as YOU'VE GOT MAIL and Nora Ephron's MICHAEL as well as an Emmy nominated turn on Grace Under Fire.

A true Television icon.  Cry
