The name DEAN JEFFRIES may not mean much to most film fans, but, anybody who's seen DAMNATION ALLEY, LOGAN'S RUN or The Monkees and Green Hornet TV shows certainly has seen his (auto) body of work. Jeffries designed many fan favorite Movie and TV custom cars. With his driving skills, Jeffries also became a stunt man on films like THE BLUES BROTHERS, ROMANCING THE STONE and DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE.

I got to work with some of Jeffries' creations as hand-me- downs on such epics as PHANTOM EMPIRE and HELL COMES TO FROGTOWN (the Producers couldn't afford original work!). Oh, and anybody who has visited the Universal Studios Tour probably passed his shop on Cahuenga - it was the one with the DAMNATION ALLEY car parked out front for a couple of decades!

RIP, Dean.

Along similar lines, AL FRITZ, who helped design the popular Scwinn bicycle The Stingray also just passed away. And, who amongst us didn't own or ride one of them? Stingrays grew out the custom bike culture in California, much like Dean Jeffries did with automobiles.
