Veteran character actor Ben Gazzara has passed on, despite his many roles, two still in production,
his only sci-fi credit was "The Neptune Factor"

Gazzara was a terrific presence on screen. His dependable performances were probably sometimes taken for granted. Looking at his resume, I saw a number of films that I admired without recalling his particular character. This isn't a criticism. It just points out how seamlessly he integrated into the fabric of the film. He will forever be tied to the Cassevettes school with the likes of Peter Falk, Seymour Cassel and, of course, Gena Rowlands.

Thank you, Ben.  Cry
