Title: SF/46 WILL be all VIRTUAL
Post by L.A. Connection on Sep 16th, 2020 at 10:42am
From the Boston Sci-Fi Fest Facebook page, September 16th:

"The Boston Science Fiction Film Festival Embraces the Future. We're Going Virtual! The Covid-19 pandemic is not ending soon. We are embracing this challenge, and hope that you will be joining us! We'll show 30 features, 70 shorts, 10 workshops/panels with guests and experts, which you can watch from the comfort of your own home. The Future Is Now! "

Glad it’s being held. Will miss being at the Somerville and not seeing all my ‘thon friends.

Today on Facebook, there will be a virtual forum where plans for this year's Fest & Thon are supposed to be discussed: https://www.facebook.com/BostonSciFi/posts/10159200480973534

Title: Marathon Details: SF/46 WILL be all VIRTUAL
Post by L.A. Connection on Nov 30th, 2020 at 4:41pm
I watched the online FB forum held by Garen. He re-iterated that the Festival and the Marathon will all be virtual.

Other bullet points:

- Presold tickets are still good
- Pricing for new tickets will be in line with this year's
- Swag bags will be sent to all ticketed Marathoners including a fireball
- The basic format including a preshow, the In Memorium etc. will remain in place. About a dozen features, with 5 to 10 minute breaks in between. And, contests of some sort
- Marathoners are asked to make short videos about their past 'thon experiences if they wish. The will be played during the event
- The marathon will be via an app. Information forthcoming of how to cast the app on your TVs
- The longtime film distributor Swank Films will be providing the bulk of the programming. Swank has a large catalog, but the films are subject to licensing rights.
