Another great one has passed.
Giger's contribution to the SF/Horror genre cannot be underestimated.

It's not an understatement to say that Giger was the most important visual artist of the last 30 years or so in the real of sci-fi, fantasy and horror. Certainly, no alien creature has looked quite the same since he came to prominence.
