New title. A marathon first and a super entry. Fritz Lang's Frau Im Mond will be appearing at SF38. The film that introduced the countdown to the world. According to our host, "we're screening the film in advance. It comes with a sound track. If it is unacceptable, we will bring in a musician (s)".

The 'thon has a great track record of getting high-quality live music performers for silent films. Is there any word as to whether one has been booked?

Also look for the tall German character actor Fritz Rasp (1891-1976). He played the spy in "Metropolis" (scenes cut and later restored), as well as the lecherous pharmacist in "Diary of a Lost Girl". His credits also include the thief in the recently remade "Irgendwo in Berlin" (Somewhere in Berlin) 1946 among his 115 films spanning 60 years.

Fritz Rasp: He Started in Silents. He ended in Dolby!

I own a copy of this, and there are some pretty wild visuals in it,long as it is. Prefigures some future Germany, too, as we came to see in WWII. Can't wait to see it on the big screen!

It looks like "Frau im Mond" is going to be the long digital-projected version.

While digital projection is not the ideal medium, as illustrated by these screencaps of the upcoming "The 5th Element" for example,

seeing this classic on the big screen is still going to be a treat!

Any word on the live music?

The updated list no longer lists Frau im Mond. Hands of Orlac is listed in its place.
