Title: A SAM ROCKWELL/"GALAXY QUEST" STORY
Post by ed symkus on Oct 7th, 2012 at 7:12pm

I did roundtable interviews for the excellent "Seven Psychopaths," and got to meet Sam Rockwell. As he entered the room I walked up to him and said, "Congratulations on 'Galaxy Quest.' " He looked a little stunned for a moment, then smiled and said thanks. I caught him off-guard pretty good! Later, after the interview, I briefly got to talk with him about it.

He said, "I am very proud of 'Galaxy Quest. I actually turned the part down twice. I finally took it because I realized it was gonna be a good movie. At first I just didn’t want to be like Don Knotts, you know? Then I realized it was a good thing. It was a sci-fi comedy. Alan Rickman and I were both in 'Galaxy Quest' and 'The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.' He was the voice of the robot. Sci-fi comedy. It’s an underrated genre."
