"Star Trek" did this a couple of times. Then there was "A.H.A.B.". Futurama even did it. It would warrant some nautical wisecracking if I didn't so admire Melville's book. :-/

i suppose "obsession" does have a captain obsessed with killing a menacing creature but the similarity pretty much ends there.

Interesting. I didn't realize that Lynne Ramsay was involved to direct the film.

Ramsay's WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN was one of the very best films of 2011. Incredibly intense and difficult, but brilliantly wrought with a superb performance by Tilda Swinton. She also made the equally challenging MOVERN CALLAR and the hallucinatory RATCATCHER.

TRANSFORMERS Part III this won't be!
