Of interest to long time cinemaphiles in Boston area (if you remember the Welles you likely visited here too.)
AMC closed the Harvard Square Theatre July 8 of this year. I remember going to it many times back when it was one HUGE screen and seeing lots of classics there during it's revival cinema phase. Never got a chance to see its famous wicker balcony seats. this leaves only The Brattle in the immediate Harvard area. |

Another one lost. I didn't get there as often as I liked, but I will miss it.

When I was in town back in July, a small group of us including Major Tom, Harry Lohr, Metaluna, SASWWP and members of my "L.A. Connection" met up at the Harvard SQ Theater before taking a lunch in the area. Tom watched as an AMC employee took down the letters on the marquee.
A sad day for Boston film lovers. da_Bunnyman wrote on Sep 10th, 2012 at 8:38pm:

Remember it well. Lived just off Central Square about 44 years ago. Saw both my first semi-porn film there (some Swedish or Danish thing) as well as a lot of other stuff including, if memory serves me, Chimes at Midnight. Thanks for the memories.

I'd guess that the semi-porn Swedish or Danish thing was "I Am Curious (Yellow)" or maybe "I Am Curious (Blue)."

It was a really wonderful movie theater. Very sad to see it go.
