Title: Sci-fi on TV
Post by R_F_Fineman on Oct 22nd, 2011 at 9:17am
I found out too late to post it, but early this morning TCM ran a couple of true beauties:

"The Gamma People" (1956)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049248/
In which Boston Mayor Tom Menino, played by Paul Douglas

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0007222/

takes on an 80's Techno Band!

and the swingin' 60's classic:

"Wild Wild Planet"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059914/

also on TCM:

"20 Million Miles To Earth" 1:45 Today
"Earth vs The Flying Saucers" 3:15 Today
(Here are two answers to the trivial quiz!) :)

I DVR'd GAMMA PEOPLE. I was surprised to see it in the listings. It's pretty obscure with the last home video release back in the VHS days. It's never been on legit DVD (save for bootlegs). And, never at the Marathon, though I've tried to locate a print. I had an old off-the-tv copy that a buddy made for me, but, it got stolen when I foolishly lent it to somebody else. So, I've never actually seen it!

TCM tends to re-run almost all their titles. Almost...

WILD WILD PLANET is a fun cheapo Italian pic that TCM does run quite a bit.

For anyone who has Comcast/Xfinity...you might have Breakfast of Aliens available free online or on Pay Per View for $2.99. I kinda want to watch it again just to see if it's as bad as I remember.
